About Bella Bluebell

What started as one charity night at a little pub called The Bluebell Inn somehow turned into a career of big wigs, bigger frocks, cruise ships, theatres, pantomimes and more costume changes than Bella would care to count!

Bella Bluebell was originally created for a one-off charity performance at The Bluebell Inn — and that was genuinely supposed to be the beginning and the end of it. Hence the name Bluebell! But after that first appearance, more and more people began asking Bella to perform at events, parties, pubs and clubs, and before long, the one-off character had taken on a life of her own.
 
From the Bluebell Inn to the Stage

As the bookings grew, so did the show. Bella was joined by her dancers, The Bluebells, and Bella Bluebell & The Bluebell Dancers began touring clubs, pubs and venues across the region.

Then came Bella's first major theatre production, 50 Shades of Blue, which toured theatres around the North East to sell-out audiences.
 

From there, Bella began creating full-scale summer and winter productions. Her Christmas spectacular, Jingle Your Bells, has now been entertaining audiences for over 10 years and remains one of her most popular shows.

Over the years, her productions have included Bella's Big Band Night, featuring a live big band on stage; Bluebell Airways – Around the World in 80 Gays; The Laughter Show and many, many more.

Every show has been different, but they've always had the same ingredients — live vocals, comedy, costumes, audience participation and complete chaos!
 
Pantomime

Pantomime has become a huge part of Bella's career. After initially appearing in pantomime alongside Leah Bell, Bella went on to produce her own professional pantomime in 2016 and continues producing and performing in pantomime today at Little Theatre Gateshead.

Over the years, Bella has played everything from glamorous queens and outrageous dames to wicked stepmothers and even a pirate captain!

And in 2026, Bella returns to Little Theatre Gateshead as Dame Bella Batty in Robin Hood!

 

Away from pantomime, Bella's theatre credits have also included roles such as Lola in Kinky Boots and Vera Charles in Mame.
 
From Newcastle to the High Seas

Bella's career has grown far beyond the North East.

She has recently been entertaining international audiences aboard Marella Cruises, performing The Laughter Show at sea, while continuing to travel up and down the country performing at theatres, holiday parks, clubs, private events and entertainment venues.

Bella also regularly works alongside The UK Pleasureboys, bringing her own unique brand of comedy and entertainment to their events.

Her screen appearances have included Britain's Got Talent, Teen Taxi and the BBC documentary featuring The UK Pleasureboys.
 
The Wedding Crasher!

And then there's that wedding routine...

Bella became a viral social-media sensation with her now infamous "It Should Have Been Me" routine.

Appearing as a rather worse-for-wear woman from the rougher end of Newcastle, Bella bursts into an unsuspecting wedding, interrupts proceedings, confronts the groom and launches into "It Should Have Been Me!"

What started as a comedy routine quickly took off online — and Bella has since crashed many a wedding!

It's become one of her most recognisable routines and, much to the concern of grooms everywhere, she's still doing it today!
 
And She's Still Going...

From that first one-off charity gig at The Bluebell Inn to sell-out theatre shows, pantomimes, television appearances, viral videos, UK events and international cruise ships, Bella Bluebell has certainly travelled a long way.

But underneath the wigs, lashes, sequins and ridiculous amount of hairspray, the aim has never really changed:

Make people laugh, give them a great show and make sure they leave having had a night to remember.

Bella continues to perform at sea and, whenever she's back on dry land, packs in as many shows and events around the UK as she possibly can.
